Lewis will discuss strategies to help media planning and buying professionals successfully navigate clients through tough political advertising climates

Mike Lewis will speak at an upcoming "SRDS Media Mixology" event being held in New York City on April 18, which focuses on the theme of "local media buying tactics amid political chaos."
His expertise in media strategies encouraged SRDS, a media industry data aggregator and research company owned by Kantar Media, to invite Lewis to speak about methods media professionals can use to effectively manage ad placements during peak political election periods.
Timeframes rife with political advertisements pose a unique challenge for media companies due to the presence of opinionated and sometimes controversial messages circulating across media channels. This factor makes it imperative for marketers to employ creative and often-overlooked outreach tactics to combat market disarray, maximize budgets and avoid inadvertently placing client’s ads alongside negative spots, which can irreversibly damage a campaign’s intended message.
During his presentation, Lewis will go into detail about how he has implemented the prior-mentioned methods across past projects. He will also discuss the different issues various media vehicles pose and highlight recent legislative developments that have changed the way advertisers overcome political clutter.
Also speaking at the event is Ken Goldstein, president of Kantar Media’s Campaign Media Analysis Group, who will talk about which markets, media platforms and TV shows will get the most political ad saturation this year. Goldstein is also presenting an overview of why 2012 will be different from any other election year for media planners.
